Elopement in Portugal

Beth and Tom are just like us. Two adventurous souls, eager to discover more and more.

On 3rd of April, 2019, we got an e-mail from Beth saying that she and her fiancé were wanting to do an elopement in Portugal. This was all we needed to know, it was an instant match! One is from New Zealand and one is from Australia, and life wanted them to meet and explore this world together. They wanted to travel throughout Europe and stop here and there to get to know more about European culture and the cities. Along this awesome trip, they were to get married somewhere, and Portugal was the place to do it!

Getting ready together, why not?

They were getting ready at Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho Relais & Châteaux, together, as they are always, and in the same room. They spent the morning relaxing, listening to music, and having some champagne while Beth were doing her make up and hair. Beth closed her eyes as Tom was getting dressed and we went outside for him to write his vows, while Beth was putting on her dress.

This is the best way to get ready indeed, they even confessed that doing their elopement in Portugal was the best decision ever. They threw an engagement party with their family and friends back at home and that was one of the most stressful events they’ve ever had – so they wanted to keep it simple.

The ceremony took place in the most magical place ever.

After a first look facing the ocean we were ready to go to the Ruins of the Chapel located in Monserrate Palace surroundings, where the ceremony was planned. Once there, they asked us to chose the best spot for them to stand. It was an amazing experience, being there just the two of us, Beth and Tom and the celebrant. He gave one of the most beautiful speeches we’ve ever heard (you can check it in the video that follows this story) and we immediately knew how we wanted to edit this film, with his speech leading the story.

We spend the rest of the day with them, enjoying the true beauty of Sintra region – I even drove all the way to Piriquita to grab some Travesseiros de Sintra (a typical pastry like I haven’t seen in any place) because they hadn’t tried them yet. Back to the hotel we had some nice time together telling stories and then we headed for the cliffs because she wanted to throw her beautiful bouquet to the ocean.

They sure know how to enjoy the wedding day, and this is why we love elopements – elopements are a true tribute to love, and to the feelings that one has for the other. Nothing else matters.

Super thanks to Beth and Tom for letting us be part of this amazing day. They made us feel extra special for being able to share such an important date with them. Thank you once again to the awesome guys from FeelCreations – it’s always a pleasure to hang out with you guys! We definitely want to repeat this experience.
