Mia Beach Wedding

Brianna and Keith were meant to be

Brianna and Keith found me online, and they’ve sent me an email asking if I was free for their wedding this year. But, their wedding was going to be in Tulum, Mexico. If you’ve been scrolling through my website, you already know that I love travel. It’s one of those things where I can find inspiration, and what fuels my creativity. Visiting Tulum for the first time would be, per se, more than enough to be excited about this wedding. But there were some more.

On one hand, it would be a Mia Beach Wedding, and I would be in one of my favorite wedding venues in Tulum area. The Mexican vibes, the greens, the space itself, everything blends in so well that I just wanted to get in on a plane and fly there as soon as possible. I love beach weddings so much, but this venue is one step higher doing them.

Another important point is that Brianna is a photographer, and shooting a photographers wedding is always a challenge and brings me mixed feelings. On one hand I was super happy knowing that someone from the biz wanted me to film their wedding which is always super cool, but It also puts an extra pressure on my shoulders. This makes no sense because they immediately gave us total freedom to create what we wanted, but yeah, I always feel like this.

From the moment we chat for the first time, we just clicked. I could tell their excitement about this wedding and what it meant for them. It was so easy to just enjoy all of this process! In the meantime, Lukas Piatek was also on board to photograph their wedding and we have been together just some months before, shooting an amazing wedding in California, USA. He had already shot some cool stuff underwater so we decided to challenge Brianna and Keith to do some underwater shots in a Cenote.

I won’t go deep on this, but let me tell you that the images we got from this shoot are probably my all time favorites – you can check the video to see what I mean.

Getting ready by the beach

Beautiful Mia Beach Wedding

Mia Beach had a beautiful bridal room facing the sea, where both bride and groom get ready before the wedding (not at the same time, though). This room was the perfect starting point for this beach wedding. The room had a massive window leading up to a wooden balcony, where we could see palm trees dancing by the wind, hear the waves on the ocean below us, just a couple of feet away from where we were standing.

We arrived to the venue pretty early because we wanted to have more than enough time to register everything. Bot only the getting ready part but the amazing location (first time having a Mia Beach wedding and we wanted our images to show how unbelievable the place was). With so many hidden spots to shoot details, establishment shots and the sights, we were having so much fun photographing and filming.

We had it all, everything was super neat and pretty in the venue, but at the same time they were enjoying their time together so much that both me and Lukas couldn’t stop smiling when we were in the room with them. The bride had with her both her mother and her daughter, so there was also plenty of emotional moments.

Right after Brianna was done with hair and makeup, we had Keith getting ready in there as well to enjoy the same Mexican vibes. He dressed up with the most amazing views, and sat on the table by the window to finish his vows – The. Most. Emotional. Vows. Ever.

A Mia Beach Wedding isn’t complete without a first look

I absolutely love first looks. I firmly believe this is one of the highlights of every wedding. You can feel the nerves from a distance. You almost can hear their hearts pounding through their chest. It’s the perfect build up before going to the ceremony.

It is the first time bride and groom see each other after getting ready, it is the moment where they will say the most sincere words that come to their minds, and this is why I love it so much!

Of course, on this wedding, we would have all of this, and more. Not only Keith was getting married to Brianna, but also Mak and Jordan, the beautiful kids of Brianna. We found the perfect spot for this first look at Mia Beach, on a small path surrounded by palm trees and the sound of wind and birds. Having Keith mic’ed up was the best decision I made, and you will know why when you watch the video.

Ceremony by the ocean

One of this Mia Beach Wedding ’s highlights is – of course – the ceremony by the beach. Everything was super well set by Diego, the wedding planner in Tulum that we met for this wedding. His aesthetics is on point, and the arch that he created for this ceremony turned out so so beautiful, and it looked so well on our images with the ocean behind it.

Can you imagine a beautiful beach wedding, feet on the sand, super relaxed attires, tanned guests with sunglasses and the sound of the waves behind them while they were exchanging their vows? Yup, not even in my wildest dreams I imagined this kind of ceremony. But I guess this is what being a destination wedding videographer allows me to do, and this is why I love doing this so much.

Let the party begin

As Brianna and Keith’s friend told during the ceremony, they wanted their wedding day to be fun and relaxed, and this was precisely how this wedding was. They finished their wedding ceremony by the ocean by drinking a shot with all their guests.

Reception and dinner also took place in the beach, but in another area of Mia Beach, a more intimate and reserved place, but where you could also feel the sand and enjoy this destination wedding. This is all that destination weddings are about, right?!

The food at Mia Beach Wedding was delicious, and we enjoyed the meal on a table with their closest friends and family, which means the world to us. We were their friends, we were part of their special day. That felt so good.

The dance floor was set at the same place and everyone just enjoyed dancing and partying until late in the night. What a day to remember!

Discovering Mexico

Whenever I tell my friends and family that I flew +10 hours each way to be in Mexico just for 3 days they call me crazy. But we made the most out of it, we sure did!

This couple is adventurous, they love the wilderness, and discover new places and try new stuff. So during one of our calls planning this destination wedding, they ended up booking us for one extra day of fun. We were to go to different Cenotes and try to film them underwater. This is so challenging to do, but we were all so stoked for trying it.

The images that we got from it are just nuts – you need to check their video to see for yourself. I can’t wait to post the rest of their wedding videos, but I’ll leave you with this short Instagram teaser that I’ve sent them the week after their wedding. The images are insane, and I believe this is what a destination wedding is about. Not only to have the most beautiful wedding that you can, but also to experience different cultures, and try new stuff. I’m super happy that they picked us, but can’t wait for the next one!!

If you’re looking for an exotic destination for your wedding, Tulum, Mexico is an excellent choice. What You Need to Know to Get Married in Tulum, Mexico

If you’re planning to get married in Tulum, there are a few things you need to know. First, you’ll need to have all your legal paperwork in order. This includes your passport, birth certificate, and a blood test that needs to be done in Mexico. You’ll also need to have two witnesses who are at least 18 years old.

Second, you’ll need to choose a venue for your wedding. There are many beautiful venues in Tulum, including beachfront villas, luxury resorts, and boutique hotels. Some popular options include Azulik Tulum, Casa Malca, Be Tulum, and Mia Beach (we may be working on some cool list for you to check later on the best wedding venues in Tulum, MX).

What is the best month to have a wedding in Tulum?

Tulum is a year-round destination, but the best time to get married there is from November to April. During this time, the weather is dry and sunny, and the temperature ranges from 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, making it the perfect climate for outdoor weddings. However, keep in mind that this is also peak tourist season, so prices for flights and accommodations can be higher than other times of the year.

If you’re looking for a more affordable option, consider getting married in Tulum during the offseason, which is from May to October. During this time, you can expect occasional rain and slightly higher humidity, but you’ll also find lower prices on flights and accommodations.

What Can You Expect When Planning a Destination Wedding in Tulum?

A destination wedding in Tulum is a magical experience that you and your guests will never forget. From the stunning natural beauty to the delicious food and warm hospitality, Tulum has everything you need to create a memorable event. You can expect to enjoy activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and exploring ancient Mayan ruins. You and your guests can also indulge in delicious Mexican cuisine and enjoy the vibrant nightlife in Tulum.

Planning a destination wedding in Tulum, Mexico can be both exciting and challenging. While the natural beauty of the location is unparalleled, there are also some unique factors to consider when planning your big day. One of the most important things to keep in mind is transportation.

Tulum is a relatively small town, and many of the venues and accommodations are spread out across the area. This means that transportation is crucial to ensure that your guests can get to and from the wedding venue without any issues. You may need to rent shuttle buses or cars to transport your guests, depending on the size of your wedding party.

Another important factor to consider is accommodation. Tulum has a range of options, from luxury hotels to rustic beachfront cabins. However, availability can be limited during peak season, so it’s important to book your accommodations well in advance.

Is Tulum Safe for Destination Weddings?

Safety is a valid concern for any couple planning a destination wedding, and Tulum is no exception. However, the good news is that Tulum is considered a safe destination for travelers, including those planning their weddings. The town has a low crime rate, and the local police are generally reliable and responsive.

However, as with any travel destination, it’s important to take common-sense precautions to ensure your safety. For example, don’t leave valuables unattended, avoid walking alone at night, and be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Is it expensive to get married in Tulum?

The cost of a destination wedding in Tulum varies depending on several factors such as the venue, number of guests, and the services provided by your wedding vendors. Tulum is known for its luxurious and upscale resorts, which can result in higher costs compared to other destinations. However, there are also more budget-friendly options available if you’re willing to compromise on certain aspects of your wedding.

How much is a wedding at Azulik Tulum?

Azulik Tulum is a stunning eco-resort that offers a unique and unforgettable wedding experience. However, the cost of a wedding at this resort can vary depending on the size of your wedding and the specific services you require. You can expect to pay anywhere from $10,000 to $30,000 or more for a wedding at Azulik Tulum. The best way to get an accurate quote is to reach out to the resort directly and speak with a wedding coordinator.

Why get married in Tulum?

Tulum offers a unique and unforgettable wedding experience that is hard to match. With its stunning natural beauty, rich culture, and delicious cuisine, Tulum has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed beach wedding or an adventurous jungle wedding, Tulum has it all. Plus, getting married in Tulum allows you to combine your wedding and honeymoon into one unforgettable experience.

Why is Tulum better than Cancun?

While Cancun has a lot to offer in terms of nightlife and entertainment, Tulum offers a more relaxed and authentic experience. Tulum is known for its stunning natural beauty, laid-back atmosphere, and bohemian vibe. It’s also home to some of the best eco-friendly resorts in the world, making it a great choice for couples who want to incorporate sustainability into their wedding plans.

Where can I get married in Tulum?

Tulum offers a wide range of wedding venues, from luxurious beach resorts to intimate jungle hideaways. Some popular wedding venues in Tulum include Azulik Tulum, Casa Malca, Be Tulum, and Mia Beach.

Can you get married at the Tulum ruins?

While it’s not possible to get married directly at the Tulum ruins, you can still incorporate this historic site into your wedding plans. Many couples choose to have their wedding ceremony at a nearby beach or venue and then take photos at the Tulum ruins afterward. You can also have a symbolic ceremony at the ruins, which can be a beautiful and meaningful way to honor the history and culture of the area.

This is my best advice, if you want to skip all the legal troubles and paperwork, you can get married back in your home country and then have a beautiful symbolic ceremony wherever you feel like in Tulum. It can be either a beach ceremony like the one we had with Brianna and Keith on this Mia Beach Wedding, you can have it in the jungle, surrounded by the trees and the sounds of nature, or with some ancient ruins as backdrop. Either option is viable since you’re not limited to the legal obligations of a wedding ceremony.

Either way, whatever your plans are, make sure you reach out if you would like to have me filming your wedding day. Being a destination wedding videographer allows me to travel the world filming the most amazing weddings in some places I will never forget.
